Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mrs. J. Greenough, the handler of Espanyol regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Espanyol last raced 11 Janurary, 2016. Mrs. Greenough stated the greyhound was returning from an injured back muscle and has had a change of kennel.
A pre-race sample was taken from Tactical Miss.
King Kai, Ginger Pieces and Tactical Miss were quick to begin. Tactical Miss crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking King Kai, Tactical Miss, Tumble And Dry and Ginger Pieces. Down Every Road and Samsara Lass collided on the first turn. King Kai galloped on Down Every Road on the first turn checking King Kai. King Kai was checked off Down Every Road approaching the home turn causing King Kai to collide with Espanyol. Tumble And Dry and Ginger Pieces collided approaching the home turn. King Kai crossed to the outside on the home turn severely checking King Kai and Espanyol, Espanyol stumbled and lost considerable ground.
Espanyol was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left chest muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
