Steward's Report
During the kennelling process Stewards approached Mr Martin Hanke, the trainer of Bound After Gold, with the intention of taking a sample upon his arrival to the racecourse. Mr Hanke refused and prevented the taking of this sample and disobeyed the order of steward Mr Scott Gillespie. Stewards allowed Mr Hanke to kennel the greyhound whilst an inquiry was conducted into the circumstances. Stewards heard evidence from GRV Stewards Mr C Day and Mr S. Gillespie, and trainer Mr M Hanke. After considering the evidence Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Bound After Gold who was a late scracthing at 11:47am by order of stewards; pursuant to GAR20(4). A sample was subsequently taken from Bound After Gold at 11:57am. Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed.
Destini Seajewel and Lektra Stomp were quick to begin. Alberto checked off the heels of Destini Seajewel soon after the start. Destini Seajewel and Black Market collided on the first turn. Alberto checked off the heels of Lektra Stomp on the first turn. Destini Seajewell checked off the heels of Black Market on the second turn. Queen Quick veered out and marred Black Market in the home straight, checking Black Market as a result.
Stewards spoke to Mr Clint Colaiacovo, the trainer of the greyhound Queen Quick, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Queen Quick with marring. Mr Colaiacovo declined to have the greyhound vetted and pleaded guilty to the charge, Queen Quick was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows (MEP) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A sample was taken from Lektra Stomp, the winner of the event.
