Steward's Report

Stewards spoke to Mr. W. Gray, the trainer of Why Not Lucy regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Why Not Lucy last raced on 9th of December, 2015. Mr. Gray stated that Why Not Lucy is returning to racing after being on season.

Highfield La La was quick to begin. Miss Briony and Mystique Speedy were slow to begin. 

Djays Larry and Flyin' Les Fergi collided soon after the start. Why Not Lucy and Makikos collided soon after the start. Djays Larry and Flyin' Les Fergi collided on the first turn checking Flyin' Les Fergi and Why Not Lucy. Djays Larry crossed to the outside in the back straight checking Highfield La La, Makikos and Magic Bunny. Flyin' Les Fergi checked off Djays Larry on the second turn checking Makikos. Flyin' Les Fergi and Makikos collided in the home straight. Why Not Lucy tired over the concluding stages of the event. 

Why Not Lucy was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury.

Stewards spoke to Mr W Gray, trainer of Why Not Lucy with regards the greyhound's performance, in particular over the concluding stages of the event. Stewards noted that Why Not Lucy was first up today over 545m. Mr Gray stated that he has trialled Why Not Lucy on numerous occasions leading up to today's run, in particular last Thursday here at Ballarat over 545m. Mr Gray added that he was disappointed with the greyhound's performance in today's event and it is his intention to retire Why Not Lucy from racing.
