Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Blake, the trainer of Derby Thyme regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Derby Thyme last raced on 30th of October, 2015. Mr. Blake stated that Derby Thyme is returning to racing after a left shoulder injury.

Mr. D. Blake, trainer of Derby Thyme declared a new weight of 31.0kg's for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Derby Thyme last raced at 29.5kg's.

A pre race sample was unable to be obtained from Go Speaross.

Derby Thyme, Here's The Trump and Taltarni Shiraz collided approaching the first turn checking Derby Thyme. Derby Thyme and Tiger Jones collided several times approaching the home turn. Stewards spoke to Ms. P. Triaca, the trainer of Beksun regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Beksun last raced on 27th of December, 2015. Ms. Triaca stated that Beksun is returning to racing after a change of kennel. 

Sisco Mama, Beksun, Spring Velox, Boston Shuffle and Highfield Bones collided soon after the start checking Beksun, Boston Shuffle, Highfield Bones, Pyrenees Dynasty and Sajetti and severely checking Spring Velox which stumbled as a result. Beksun checked off Sisco Mama in the back straight.

Allegro Destini was slow to begin.

Crackerjack Sam and Lettuce Hold On collided soon after the start checking Lettuce Hold On. Ken's Thunderin' and Crackerjack Sam collided approaching the first turn checking Ken's Thunderin'. Crackerjack Sam checked off Denver Mills approaching the frist turn. Super Ricky, Denver Mills, Evening Fawlty and Renegade Rebel collided on the first turn checking Super Ricky, Evening Fawlty, Crackerjack Sam, Lettuce Hold On, Allegro Destini and Ken's Thundering. Denver Mills and Renegade Rebel collided on the first turn checking checking Renegade Rebel. Super Ricky and Lettuce Hold On collided entering the home straight. Allegro Destini and Lettuce Hold On collided in the home straight. Denver Mills and Renegade Rebel collided approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to Mr. W. Gray, the trainer of Why Not Lucy regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Why Not Lucy last raced on 9th of December, 2015. Mr. Gray stated that Why Not Lucy is returning to racing after being on season.

Highfield La La was quick to begin. Miss Briony and Mystique Speedy were slow to begin. 

Djays Larry and Flyin' Les Fergi collided soon after the start. Why Not Lucy and Makikos collided soon after the start. Djays Larry and Flyin' Les Fergi collided on the first turn checking Flyin' Les Fergi and Why Not Lucy. Djays Larry crossed to the outside in the back straight checking Highfield La La, Makikos and Magic Bunny. Flyin' Les Fergi checked off Djays Larry on the second turn checking Makikos. Flyin' Les Fergi and Makikos collided in the home straight. Why Not Lucy tired over the concluding stages of the event. 

Why Not Lucy was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury.

Stewards spoke to Mr W Gray, trainer of Why Not Lucy with regards the greyhound's performance, in particular over the concluding stages of the event. Stewards noted that Why Not Lucy was first up today over 545m. Mr Gray stated that he has trialled Why Not Lucy on numerous occasions leading up to today's run, in particular last Thursday here at Ballarat over 545m. Mr Gray added that he was disappointed with the greyhound's performance in today's event and it is his intention to retire Why Not Lucy from racing. 

Mr Alouette was quick to begin.

Vane Blue, Jadu, Benny Big Head and Mr. Alouette collided soon after the start checking Jadu and Benny Big Head. Karaoke Ken checked off Inhouse Mandy on the first turn. Vane Blue and Madeleine Jay collided on the first turn checking Madeleine Jay, Jadu and Benny Big Head. Mr. Alouette and Innhouse Mandy collided on the first turn checking Mr. Alouette, Inhouse Mandy and Vane Blue.

Benny Big Head was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right deltoid. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Destini Firebird was slow to begin.

New Job Jimmy, Indi Allen and All Bolts collided soon after the start. Pason Sander and Indi Allen collided on the first turn checking Indi Allen, All Bolts and Lemon Patchwork. New Job Jimmy faltered entering the back straight and was tailed off as a result. Pason Sander checked off Sisco Swift approaching the second turn. Pason Sander and Indi Allen collided on the second turn checking Indi Allen. He's Your Mate stumbled on the second turn and lost ground as a result. 

New Job Jimmy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right back muscle. A 21 day stand down period was imposed. 

He's Your Mate was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right quadriceps. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. 

Stewards spoke to Mr P Nicholls and reminded him of his responsibilities for not retrieving the greyhound by the allocated time. 

Miss Crazy Cat was slow to begin.

Vanderville Lady, Mausie and Ima Ebay collided soon after the start. Ginto Zac and Blue Marmion collided soon after the start checking Ginto Zac and severely checking Blue Marmion. Miss Crazy Cat clipped the heels of Ginto Zac approaching the first turn and stumbled as a result. Mausie checked off Ginto Zac on the first turn. Ginto Zac and Ima Ebay collided on the first turn checking Ginto Zac and Blue Marmion. Ima Ebay galloped on the heels of Vanderville Lady on the first turn checking Vanderville Lady. Quick Return checked off Like A Bailey in the home straight. Quick Return and Ima Ebay collided in the home straight.

It was noted the muzzle of Blue Marmion became dislodged during the running of this event.

Blue Marmion was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration to the nose. No stand down period was imposed. 

Vanderville Lady was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right quadriceps. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. 

Dawn Cruise was slow to begin.

Jack's Prince crossed to the inside soon after the start checking Cruisy's Luck and Sanzman. Me Name's Nelson, Jack's Prince and Derby Girl collided on the first turn checking all three greyhounds. Me Name's Nelson and Derby Girl collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Sanzman checked off Derby Girl on the home turn.

One Mississippi and Flowering Rose collided soon after the start. Flowering Rose clipped the heels of One Mississippi approaching the first turn causing Flowering Rose to stumble. Bedlum, One Mississippi and Pillow Walka collided on the first turn checking One Mississippi and Pillow Walka. Rocket Riley raced wide on the home turn and in the home straight. Jack's Alouette and One Mississippi collided in the home straight and approaching the winning post checking Jack's Alouette. Jack's Alouette checked off One Mississippi approaching the winning post.

Blazing Nitro and Flying Marcia collided soon after the start checking Blazing Nitro. Flying Marcia crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking Vanderville Kid, Stress Star and Roman Boy. Stress Star checked off Vanderville Kid on the first turn checking Maine Lach. Roman Boy, Blazing Nitro and Jill Laker collided on the first turn checking Blazing Nitro and Jill Laker. Roman Boy and Maine Lach collided approaching the home turn checking Maine Lach. Stress Star checked off Maine Lach approaching the home turn.

Jill Laker was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left deltoid. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Big Jake and Bojack Kahn were slow to begin. 

Begin Again checked off Kibosh approaching the first turn. Pep Cee Kola, Kibosh, Ice Cold Bundy and Olive's Gift collided on the first turn checking Ice Cold Bundy and severely checking Olive's Gift, Begin Again and Kibosh causing Kibosh to fall as a result. Neliel Bale galloped on the heels of Big Jake approaching the home turn severely checking Big Jake.

Begin Again was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right sesamoid muscle. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. 

Kibosh was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound had no apparent injury.

Olive's Gift was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right hock. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. 

Ben Wigan went up with the lids at box rise. Lektra Allan was slow to begin.

Ben Wigan and Gotham's Hero collided soon after the start checking Ben Wigan. Four Elements, Lollie Livewire and Ben Wigan collided on the first turn checking Lollie Livewire and Ben Wigan. Gotham's Hero and Valentine Belle collided on the home turn. Four Elements and Marmish collided entering the home straight checking both greyhounds. Marmish checked off Gotham's Hero in the home straight. Gotham's Hero and Valentine Belle collided in the home straight checking both greyhounds. Satisfactory Trial Results - 

Monterra trialled over the 390m from box 1, weight 34.1kgs, the greyhound was placed 1st in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 22.86, the greyhound was won by a margin of 0.75 lengths. Monterra was Cleared. 

Emi's Boy Murph trialled over the 390m from box 2, weight 29.9kgs, the greyhound was placed 4 in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 22.86, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 4 lengths. Emi's Boy Murph was Cleared.

I'm Mad trialled over the 390m from box 7, weight 31.7kgs, the greyhound was placed 3rd in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 22.86, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 3.75 lengths. I'm Mad was Cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results (Blinkers) -

Emi's Boy Murph trialled for the removal of blinkers over the 390m from box 2, weight 29.9kgs, the greyhound was placed 4 in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 22.86, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 4 lengths. Emi's Boy Murph was Cleared.
