Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Seabrook Dill.
Stylish Billy and Clovally Mansumi was quick to begin.
Sharina Bomber and Windsor Prize collided soon after the start, checking Sharina Bomber. Stylish Billy failed to pursure the lure with due committment on the first turn and collided with Clovally Mansumi as a result. Stylish Billy checked off Clovally Mansumi approaching the first turn. Mister Campo and Sharina Bomber collided approaching the first turn. Gone Rusty checked off Ourboy Fab on the first turn. Gone Rusty and Sharina Bomber collided on the first turn. Stylish Billy galloped on the heels of Clovally Mansumi approaching the home turn. Sharina Bomber raced wide in the home straight.
Stylish Billy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right pectoral (chest) muscle. A seven-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr R Matthews,the handler of the greyhound Stylish Billy regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the first turn. Stylish Billy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right pectoral (chest) muscle,a seven-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Stylish Billy with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Matthews pleaded guilty to the charge, Stylish Billy was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Satisfactory Trial Results -Ripple Eff Ex trialled over the 425m from box one, weight 28kg, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four.The time of the trial was 24.12, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 3L. Ripple Eff Ex was cleared.
Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Ms M Fullerton, the handler of Sleek Nitro regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Sleek Nitro last raced on 21st June 2016. Ms Fullerton stated that the greyhound had sustained an injury to the left hock. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Sleek Nitro trialled over the 425m from box 8, weight 27.2kg, the greyhound was placed third in a field of four. The time of the trial was 24.12, the greyhound beaten by a margin of 6.25L. Sleek Nitro was cleared.
MEETING COMMENTS
Stewards today finalised their inquiries into the discovery of two tablets in the kennel of greyhound Gold Odessa (race one) at Bendigo on November 25, 2016.
Mr Justin Nolen was notified of the laboratory results and further evidence was taken from Mr Nolen and Mr G Bahen, the kennel attendant.
No breaches of the Rules were disclosed.
