Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Miss Capone.
Starbright Girl was quick to begin. Dark Tantra was slow to begin. Rufus Flywheel and Roll 'Em Mighty collided approaching the first turn. Miss Capone, Maximum Melva, Magic Gold, Rufus Flywheel and Starbright Girl collided on the first turn checking Magic Gold and Rufus Flywheel and severely checking Jill Laker and Starbright Girl. Dark Tantra and Miss Capone collided approaching the home turn. Starbright Girl eased approaching the winning post.
Starbright Girl was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right thigh. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr P. Teuma, the trainer of the greyhound Starbright Girl regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Starbright Girl with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Teuma pleaded not guilty to the charge, Starbright Girl was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Jill Laker was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left shoulder. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
