Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr J.Caulfield, the trainer of Pyramid Flyer regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Pyramid Flyer last raced on 9 August, 2016. Mr Caulfield stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after injury and being in season.
Mr R.Matthews trainer of Stylish Billy declared a new weight of 32.3kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Stylish Billy last raced at 31.2kg.
Stylish Billy and Pyramid Flyer were quick to begin. Mirror Reality was slow to begin. Stylish Billy and Pyramid Flyer collided approaching the first turn. Stylish Billy, Pyramid Flyer and Cosmic Kilby collided on the first turn severely checking Cosmic Kilby and Pyramid Flyer. Morta Bella and Mirror Reality collided on the first turn checking Mirror Reality. Pink Poppy and King Billy Bolt collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Miss Lumens and Pyramid Flyer collided approaching the home turn checking Miss Lumens which fell as a result. Morta Bella and Stylish Billy collided on the home turn. StylishBilly checked off Mirror Reality in the home straight.
Miss Lumens was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Meeting Comments:
Track Curator Mr. M. Pell advised stewards that the track was lightly harrowed on 29th January 2017.
Stewards resumed and concluded the enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the greyhound 'Paula's Delight' failing to have a catcher in race 11 of the Bendigo Greyhound Racing Club meeting conducted on 27th January, 2017. Stewards heard evidence from Mr. Graeme Wild. After considering the evidence stewards issued Mr. Wild with a severe reprimand.
Stewards spoke to Mr Ken Hunt, Trainer of Militant Man, regarding his removal of the greyhound from the track without Stewards permission at the Bendigo Greyhound Racing Clug meeting conducted on 27th January, 2017. After hearing evidence from Mr. Hunt stewards charged him with a breach of GAR42(2). Mr. Hunt pleaded not guilty to the charge. Stewards found Mr. Hunt guilty and fined him the sum of $150 wholly suspended for 12 months pending no further breaches of this rule.
Militant Man was presented for a re-vet at the conclusion of kennelling. It was reported the greyhound sustained a left wrist injury. A stand down period of 14 days was imposed and was Not Cleared to race.
Re-Vetted Greyhound - Boof's Banjo was presented for a re-vet at the conclusion of kennelling and was cleared to race. Acting under GAR83, Stewards directed that a urine sample be taken from the greyhound.
Satisfactory Weight Trial (Solo) - Jive Time trialled over the 425mts from box 1, weight 32.7kg. The time of the trial was 24.30, Jive Time was Cleared.
