Steward's Report
Demtel and Paper Planes were quick to begin. Beyond The Vally, Collekki and Lucia Rossa collided soon after the start checking Collekki and Lucia Rossa. El Toro Loco and Alice Fox collided soon after the start checking El Toro Loco. Riley Boy checked off Alice Fox approaching the first turn. Paper Planes checked off Alice Fox on the first turn. Collekki checked off El Toro Loco on the first turn. Riley Boy and Alice Fox collided entering the home straight. Lucia Rossa marred the running of Alice Fox several times in the home straight checking both greyhounds.
Lucia Rossa was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left shoulder. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Formosa, the representative of the greyhound Lucia Rossa regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Lucia Rossa with marring. Mr. Formosa pleaded guilty to the charge. Lucia Rossa was found guilty and suspended for 3 months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Following an alleged incident in the wash bay area subsequent to this race, Stewards took evidence from a number of licensed persons. An Inquiry into the matter was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
