Stewards spoke to P Craig, the trainer of Popowski regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Popowski last raced on 29 September 2016. P Craig stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after being on season.

Popowski was quick to begin.  Shrek's Tales was very slow to begin (3 lengths).  Star System was slow to begin.  Cool As Hell and Star System collided approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to T Alister, the trainer of Dusty Chopstix regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Dusty Chopstix last raced on 28 September 2016. T Alister stated that the greyhound was returning from an injured right wrist.  T Alister also declared a new weight of 27.9kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Dusty Chopstix last raced at 26.6kgs.

Macreadie was quick to begin.  Three Fifty One was very slow to begin (4 lengths).  Chief Tonto and Jayanti were slow to begin.  Jayanti galloped on the heels of Spotted Opal on the first turn, checking both greyhounds.  Spotted Opal and Jayanti collided on the home turn, checking Jayanti.  Three Fifty One checked off Spotted Opal entering the home straight.

Spotted Opal was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right dew claw injury and abrasions to the left hock, a 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Aladdin Prince was quick to begin.  Tinaka was slow to begin.  Golden Malt and Korcheck collided soon after the start.  Shrek's Capri and Tinaka collided on the first turn, checking Shrek's Capri, Tinaka and Sweet Freyr.  Shrek's Capri checked off Golden Malt on the home turn.  Tinaka and Golden Malt collided entering the home straight.

Sweet Freyr was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right fibula, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to I Chircop, the trainer of Zelemar Zing regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Zelemar Zing last raced on 3 October 2016. I Chircop stated that the greyhound had changed trainers.

Zelemar Zing was quick to begin.  Murrabit Betty was very slow to begin (3 lengths).  Bangor Glynis and Mea Rose were slow to begin.  Mea Rose galloped on the heels of Zou Zou Nee on the first turn, checking Zou Zou Nee and severely checking Mea Rose.  Zou Zou Nee checked off Bangor Glynis entering the home straight.

Murrabit Yap was slow to begin.  Lady Goddess checked off Careless Cookie on the first turn.  Murrabit Yap and Lady Goddess collided approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds.

Stewards spoke to J Nibbs, the handler of Johnny Bandana regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Johnny Bandana last raced on 28 July 2016. J Nibbs stated that the greyhound was returning from illness and had changed trainers.  J Nibbs also declared a new weight of 32.3kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Johnny Bandana last raced at 30.5kgs.

Gats Pacino was slow to begin.  Platinum Hepple and Simple collided on the first turn, checking Simple.  Johnny Bandana and Platinum Hepple collided on the home turn, checking Platinum Hepple.  Gats Pacino and Never Satisfied collided on the home turn.

Shy Freddie was quick to begin.  Falkor and Shy Freddie collided on the third turn, checking Shy Freddie.  Shy Freddie and Tekki Hail collided approaching the home turn.  Tekki Hail checked off Falkor in the home straight.

Blue Colla Girl and Oh Lele Simon were slow to begin and collided on the first turn, checking Oh Lele Simon. Blue Colla Girl faltered on the second turn and lost ground.

Blue Colla Girl was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left triangle muscle and abraded right hind paw pad, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Beers On Us was a late scratching at 9.08am due to injury (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Mysterious Lenny was very slow to begin (5 lenghts).
