Darkest Beauty and Creative Cruise were quick to begin. Runnin' Star, Cash Ownley and Cosmic Collinda collided soon after the start checking King Farouk and Cosmic Collinda. King Farouk and Cosmic Collinda collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. Darkest Beauty and Creative Cruise collided approaching the first turn checking Darkest Beauty, Creative Cruise and Perfect Metre. Darkest Beauty and Cash Ownley collided on the first turn checking Runnin' Star. Darkest Beauty, Cash Ownley and Runnin' Star collided on the home turn checking Cash Ownley and Runnin' Star. King Farouk marred Cash Ownley on the home turn. Zipping Dee and Perfect Metre collided on the home turn checking both greyhounds. King Farouk marred Cash Ownley in the home straight.
King Farouk was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no injury apparent.
Stewards spoke to Mr. A. Karabitsakos the trainer of the greyhound King Farouk regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn and in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) Stewards charged King Farouk with marring. Mr. Karabitsakos pleaded not guilty to the charge, King Farouk was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul and it was directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
