A pre-race sample was taken from Tricky Trey.
Better Beware was quick to begin. Sir Fancy was slow to begin. Sir Fancy, Kay Cee Smack and Tricky Trey collided soon after the start checking Tricky Trey. Tricky Trey was checked off Kay Cee Smack approaching the first turn. Sunset Senorita was checked off Let's Go Billy on the first turn. Let's Go Billy and Rusty Mia collided on the second turn and again entering the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Knocker the representative of Aston Gaudi regarding the length of time the greyhound last raced. Aston Gaudi last raced on 11/05/16. Mr. Knocker stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a broken on the right front foot. Pursuant to GAR 77A Aston Gaudi trialled over 395 metres from box 1, weight 32.3, the greyhound was placed 1st in a field of 6. The time of the trial was 23.25, the greyhound won by a margin of 1.5 lengths. Aston Gaudi was cleared.
Dr. Frankie trialled over 395 metres from box 8, weight 31.9, the greyhound was placed 2nd in a field of 6. The time of the trial was 23.25, the greyhound Was beaten by a margin of 1.5 lengths. Dr. Frankie was not cleared.
