Steward's Report
An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Destini Wahoo engaged in this event on 20 October 2016 pursuant to GAR 79A.
Windsor Prize was a late scratching at 3:25PM on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to a right wrist injury. A ten day stand down period was imposed.
A pre-race sample was taken from Black Salve.
Dr. Compulsion was slow to begin. Dr. Compulsion and Zipping Henry collided soon after the start. Tiggerlong Thief and Augustus Dagloop collided soon after the start. Black Salve and Zipping Henry collided approaching the first turn. Destini Wahoo and Tiggerlong Thief collided on the first turn, checking Destini Wahoo, Tiggerlong Thief, Dr. Compulsion and Dolce Gusto. Dolce Gusto checked off Tiggerling Thief approaching the second turn, checking Zipping Henry, Black Salve and Dolce Gusto; causing Dolce Gusto to fall. Black Salve marred the running of Zipping Henry entering the back straight, checking Zipping Henry.
Dolce Gusto was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration near the dew claw on the left fore foot, spike wounds to the right hind foot and pain to the left pencil muscle, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
Black Salve was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right wrist, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Mizzi, the trainer of the greyhound Black Salve regarding the greyhounds racing manners entering the back straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Black Salve with marring. Mr. Mizzi pleaded not guilty to the charge, Black Salve was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
