Ms. T. Womann, trainer of Forever Vain redeclared a new weight of 31.3kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Forever Vain last raced at 30.1kg.

Onto Jatt and Fast Boloney were very slow to begin (3 lengths). Flying Merkel and Shayley's Comet were slow to begin. Benny Big Head, Forever Vain and Tear Away Moon collided soon after the start, checking Forever Vain. Benny Big Head, Flying Merkel, Shayley's Comet and Tear Away Moon collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn, checking Tear Away Moon and Shayley's Comet. Shayley's Comet and Tear Away Moon collided approaching the home turn. Onto Jatt and Fast Boloney collided approaching the home turn, severely checking Onto Jatt. Shayley's Comet, Fast Boloney and Tear Away Moon collided approaching the home turn, severely checking Shayley's Comet and causing Fast Boloney to fall. 

Shayley's Comet was vetted following the event. It was reported that the gryehound sustained a laceration to the right hind toes. No stand down period was imposed.
