Onto Jatt and Fast Boloney were very slow to begin (3 lengths). Flying Merkel and Shayley's Comet were slow to begin. Benny Big Head, Forever Vain and Tear Away Moon collided soon after the start, checking Forever Vain. Benny Big Head, Flying Merkel, Shayley's Comet and Tear Away Moon collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn, checking Tear Away Moon and Shayley's Comet. Mr. J. Gaut, handler of Salesman redeclared a new weight of 28.3kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Salesman last raced at 29.6kg.

Dixie Anne was quick to begin. Salesman was slow to begin. Maximum Bella and Dundee Cobra collided soon after the start. Maximum Bella, Dundee Cobra, Flying Do Do and Snow Boots collided soon after the start, checking Flying Do Do.
