Stewards spoke to Mr J. Absalom, the trainer of Acquitted regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Acquitted last raced on 28 April 2016 and is returning after a spell.

Max Roxy was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no injury apparent.

The start of this event was delayed by approximately 3 minutes due to the late release of the greyhounds from the kennels in preparation for this event.

Noaki Phoenix was quick to begin.  Zatmine was slow to begin.  Zatmine crossed to the rail soon after the start.  Noaki Phoenix and Dark Avenger collided approaching the first turn checking Noaki Phoenix.  Dark Avenger and Bebington collided on the first turn checking Bebington.  Dark Avenger was checked off Willowvale Wings approaching the second turn. Guillermo was a late scratching at 2:36pm by Order of Stewards.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the late scratching of Guillermo. After speaking with Mr. W. Mcmahon, the trainer of the greyhound, Stewards found him in breach of rule GAR 86(0) in that he negligently failed to produce the greyhound for its engagement by the appointed kennelling time. Mr. McMahon pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined the sum of $250.

Mr. Nasty Time was a late scratching at 12:21pm due to injury (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.

Trial 1:

Blinkers Off - Whittle Mikado trialled over the 315 metre distance from box 8, weight 26.3kg, the greyhound was placed fourth in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 18.25 secs, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 10 lengths. Whittle Mikado was cleared to race without blinkers.

Brandeen Roma trialled over the 315 metre distance from box 1, weight 28.0kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 18.25 secs, the greyhound won by a margin of 4.75 lengths. Brandeen Roma was cleared.

Cincinnati Lass trialled over the 315 metre distance from box 3, weight 29.4kg, the greyhound was placed third in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 18.25 secs, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 6.25 lengths. Cincinnati Lass was cleared.

Trial 2

To Dee Rhythm trialled over the 395 metre distance from box 1, weight 29.4kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 23.08 secs, the greyhound won by a margin of 8.75 lengths. To Dee Rhythm was cleared.

Trial 3:

Two sided blinkers and satisfactory trial - Wildcard Babe trialled over the 525 metre distance from box 1, weight 25.7kg, the greyhound was placed 1st in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 30.99, the greyhound won by a margin of 3.75 lengths. Wildcard Babe was cleared to race in two sided blinkers.

Lonesome Dude trialled over the 525 metre distance from box 7, weight 33.8kg, the greyhound was placed 3rd in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 30.99, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 4.50 lengths. Lonesome Dude was cleared.
