Race 1 was delayed by approximately three minutes due to a computer problem, which resulted in the computer timing mechanism not activating.  The beam time was recorded as 32.70.  The race was televised on Sky 2.

Starbright Tara crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Charley Arabali and Manbo Man.  Miss Monteya, Six Green Thumbs and Whodat Knockin'collided on the first turn, checking Miss Monteya.  Starbright Tara and Whodat Knockin'collided on the first turn, checking Whodat Knockin', Charley Arabali and Manbo Man.  Six Green Thumbs and Whodat Knockin' collided in the back straight.  Charley Arabali, Mi Diablo and Six Green Thumbs collided approaching the home turn, checking Mi Diablo and Six Green Thumbs.  Whodat Knockin'and Starbright Tara collided on the home turn, severely checking Whodat Knockin' and Miss Monteya.  Six Green Thumbs and Whodat Knockin'collided several times in the home straight.  Mi Diablo and Starbright Tara collided approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to G Marshman, trainer of the greyhound Smouldering Doll, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced (31 Dec 2014).  Mr Marshman stated that he was going to breed with the greyhound, but had no success so he decided to return her to racing.

Call Me Callahan was quick to begin.  Jett Setter, Tekki Tyrant and Sweet Diva collided soon after the start, checking Tekki Tyrant and Sweet Diva.  Senor Laurie, Jett Setter, Platinum Shen and Smouldering Doll collided on the first turn, checking Platinum Shen, Smouldering Doll and Jet Setter and severely checking Senor Laurie and Sweet Diva.  Senor Laurie and Sweet Diva tailed off as a result.  Senor Laurie raced wide on the home turn.
