A pre-race sample was taken from Nearly Lilly upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.

Ipswich Bale was slow to begin.
Supasonic Sam and Demon Jesse collided soon after the start. Kid Carl and Nearly Lilly collided approaching the first turn. Demon Jesse, Fab Flash and Supasonic Sam collided on the first turn checking Fab Flash and Supasonic Sam. Brandeen Kimba checked off Demon Jesse approaching the home turn. Nearly Lilly, Ipswich Bale and Fab Flash raced wide in the home straight. Nearly Lilly and Ipswich Bale collided several times in the home straight. Supasonic Sam and Ipswich Bale collided approaching the winning post.
Ipswich Bale was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left biceps and a minor spike wound to the left foreleg. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards issued a warning to Mr J Collins, handler of Ipswich Bale regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight.
