Steward's Report
Certain Magic – Late scratching at 1:51pm due to the greyhound being on season (GAR 77). A 28 day stand down period was imposed.
The start of this event was discontinued and deemed a false start due to Jay Jay Lopez escaping from the rear of the starting boxes. All greyhounds were removed from the starting boxes, underwent an examination by the On-Track Veterinarian, and subsequently passed fit to race in accordance with GAR 110(7). The race was delayed by approximately 7 minutes whilst this occurred. The race commenced at 6:18pm.
Hurricane Max was quick to begin. White Snow and Emolga Bale were slow to begin.
Jay Jay Lopez faltered in the home straight and lost ground, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a fractured left hock. A 90 day stand down period was imposed.
Swooping Swan performed below market expectations, underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to handler Mr Shane Spence regarding their failure to ensure the lid was properly closed while boxing Jay Jay Lopez during the event. A $250 fine (wholly suspended for 12 months) was issued to Mr. Spence pursuant to GAR 105 (9). Jay Jay Lopez will be boxed first in future events in accordance with GAR 106.
