A pre-race urine sample was taken from Freeman Bale.

My Girl Piper and Georgie Bale were quick to begin. Sleek Monique was slow to begin.

My Girl Piper raced wide in the home straight.

My Girl Piper (checked and lost considerable ground on the first turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left back muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. Daryl Weightman regarding the racing manners of My Girl Piper on the first turn. After hearing submissions from Mr Weightman, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action.
