Steward's Report
High Cotton (severely checked approaching the home turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.
Slick Nick (severely checked and subsequently faltered and fell approaching the home turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a fractured right radius and ulna. Slick Nick was humanely euthanised.
Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. Luke Harris regarding Wisdom Bale's racing manners on the home turn. After hearing evidence from Mr. Harris, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their own observations, Stewards took no further action. In arriving at this decision, Stewards took into consideration that Slick Nick fell in front of Wisdom Bale and the effect this incident would reasonably have had on the racing manners of Wisdom Bale.
Following the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track between the start and the home turn and deemed it suitable for racing.
