In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed ‘Heat Affected’. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 31 degrees and the kennel temperature was 17.8 degrees. Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue, as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.

Pursuant to the GRV Hot Weather Policy, Stewards dispensed with two requirements following kennelling and prior to Race 1, meaning greyhounds were no longer required to remain on course for the specified time, and that the parading of greyhounds was to occur, as the outside temperature had decreased to a reasonable level.

Acting in accordance with the GRV Lightning and Thunderstorm Safety Procedure, racing was suspended at 6:08pm due to continuous lightning strikes. All race times were rescheduled back one race.

Voodoo Prince (trailed the field throughout) underwent a post–race veterinary examination  - No apparent injury was reported.

Paw Kattia (trainers request) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have excessive bleeding from its right nostril. No stand down period was imposed.

Vinny Dewalt (severely checked in the back straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the left carpal. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Kalinya (racing manners home straight) underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. Alfred King via telephone. After hearing submissions from Mr. King ,viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, a warning was issued. Mr. King was further reminded of his responsibilities, after failing to report to the Stewards room after being directed to so.

Shima Ballad was quick to begin. Aston Hedland race wide entering the home straight. 

Shima Ballad (severely checked and fell approaching the return gate) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasian to left forleg. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

All Talker (visibly eased approaching the winning post) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right toe injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Ms Kathleen Boyle regarding All Talker's racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, All Talker was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms Boyle pleaded not guilty to the charge. All Talker was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
