Steward's Report
Pursuant to GAR 75(7), Steward D. Barber did not act, in any official capacity, for this event.
Aston Merrick - New declared weight of 30.7kg, last raced at 31.8kg.
Naughty King was quick to begin. Oriental Estella was slow to begin.
Little Truck (visibly eased approaching the winning post) underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left quadriceps injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. Matt Johnson regarding Little Truck’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Little Truck was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Johnson pleaded guilty to the charge. Little Truck was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Aston Merrick baulked approaching the wining post. Stewards spoke to Mr Grant Fullerton regarding the racing manners of Aston Merrick approaching the winning post. After hearing submissions from Mr. Fullerton, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action.
A post-race urine sample was taken from Little Truck - winner of the event.
