Steward's Report
Toe – Late scratching at 8:48am when Mr. Jordan Formosa reported the greyhound to have lameness (GAR 76). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 19(3)(w) before any future nominations will be accepted.
Dookie Giblet – Proved difficult to box and will be boxed first in future events in accordance with GAR 106.
Wellerman and Dookie Gilbert were quick to begin.
Steeple (turned it's head inwards and marred Dookie Giblet in the home straight) underwent a post-race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr. Patrick Newell regarding Steeple’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Steeple was charged with marring. Mr. Newell pleaded guilty to the charge. Steeple is suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
