Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Bronelly Striker.
Bronelly Striker was quick to begin.
High Card (failed to enter the catching pen), underwent a post-race veterinary examination. It was reported that the greyhound was found to have a spike wound to the right fore toe. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer - Mr S McDonnell, regarding the greyhound pulling up prior to the return gate and failing to enter the catching pen. Stewards noted that High Card had failed to enter the catching pen at Ballarat on 30 November, 2023 and was issued with a warning on that occasion. Acting in accordance with GAR 129, and being mindful of the safety of High Card, other greyhounds in the race, staff, and participants, Stewards were not satisfied with the performance. High Card was placed on a Satisfactory Trial under GAR 129, and pursuant to GAR 132, with the condition that the greyhound must run past the return gate.
