Steward's Report
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed ‘Heat Affected’. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 23.5 degrees and the kennel temperature was 19.0 degrees. Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue, as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.
Aston Elena was quick to begin. Shall Be Quick was slow to begin.
Aston Elena underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have exercise induced ataxia (PEDS) and collapsed in the catching pen. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under the provisions of GAR 42, Aston Elena is prohibited from competing in an event until such time as both a veterinary clearance is provided to the satisfaction of Stewards and a Satisfactory Trial is completed pursuant to GAR 132. Further, under the provisions of GAR 42(3), Aston Elena is suspended from racing for 28 days at all tracks.
