Mr. P. Glover, trainer of Northern Dancer redeclared a new weight of 30.4 kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Northern Dancer last raced at 29.3 kg.
Long Range was slow to begin. Tennessee Gal, Sunday Sess, Northern Dancer and Scunitza Speed collided soon after the start. Sally Gardens, Tennessee Gal and Sunday Sess collided on the first turn checking Sally Gardens. Sally Gardens, Tennessee Gal and Reen's Prince collided on the second turn checking Reen's Prince. Sally Gardens crossed to the outside in the home straight checking Scunitza Speed. Sunday Sess and Reen's Prince collided approaching the winning post.
