Qualia Bale, Give The Slip and Viney The Beast were slow to begin.
Concrete Sal underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer Mrs. Margaret Salvatore regarding Concrete Sal’s racing manners entering the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Concrete Sal was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mrs. Salvatore pleaded guilty to the charge. Concrete Sal was suspended for 28 days at Geelong only and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
