Steward's Report
Slinger – Late scratching at 11:20am on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 92) due to a left hind toe injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Smackdown Shaka was quick to begin. Riverdale Sky was slow to begin.
Riverdale Sky raced wide on the home turn.
Smackdown Shaka underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a groin injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative Mr Thomas Samantzis regarding the racing manners of Smackdown Shaka entering the home straight and again in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Smackdown Shaka was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Samantzis pleaded guilty to the charge, Smackdown Shaka must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
It was noted by Stewards that the muzzle on Smackdown Shaka was wedged between its teeth on pulling up in the catching pen.
