Click Snap (racing mnners approaching the winning post), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re–examined following Race 3.  Click Snap was found to have a right hindleg hock sprain and right foreleg paw soreness.  A 7 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to Mr.  Brendan De Rozario regarding the racing manners of Click Snap approaching the finishing line.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Click Snap was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr. B. de Rozario pleaded guilty to the charge.  Click Snap must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A pre-race sample was taken from Beryl The Peril.

The start was delayed by approximately three minutes due to allow the lure carriage to be changed.

Minty Freshman (racing manners approaching the winning post), underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.  Stewards spoke to Ms. D. Knight regarding the racing manners of Minty Freshman approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Minty Freshman was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms. Knight pleaded not guilty to the charge. Minty Freshman was found guilty and suspended for three months at all tracks and must perform two Satisfactory Trials in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

An out-of competition sample was taken from Hosey Sidekick on 6 September 2023.

Racing was indefinitely delayed at 9:47 am due to mechanical issues with the lure carriage. Following a changeover of the carriage, and further testing of the lure on several occasions, Stewards declared the lure satisfactory for racing and rescheduled the remainder of the program as follows :  Race 4 - 10:20, Race 5 - 10:39, Race 6 - 10:55, Race 7 - 11:13, Race 8 - 11:31, Race 9 - 11:46, Race 10 - 12:01. 

There were no reportable incidents in the event.

An out-of competition sample was taken from Minnie The Minx on 6 September 2023.

Fernando Louise – Late scratching at 5:29 am when Trainer, Paul Cusack reported the greyhound to have an injury(GAR 76).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 19(3)(w) before any future nominations will be accepted.

Crusoe Kid was slow to begin.

Nichelle Bale – Late scratching at 8:17 am on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 92) due to a right carpal sprain.  A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Cosmic Journey was quick to begin.  Bridgewater Bob and Late Mail were slow to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from Cosmic Journey – the winner of the event.

Lornett Flyer and Little Poppet were quick to begin.  Emolga Bale was slow to begin.

Speedy Muffin was slow to begin.

Speedy Mouse (checked and contacted the running rail approaching the first turn), underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.

A sample was taken from Jack's Regret upon arrival at the course.

Acoustic Flash (collided with Cherry Red and fell first turn), underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.

Donnington Girl – Marring WBL 31/08/23 – Field of 4, Distance: 390m, Weight: 28.7 kg, Box 8, Time Run 22:642 – Comment: Cleared All Tracks, except Warrnambool.  Cleared to remove blinkers.

MEETING COMMENTS:

Mr Michael Niele was fined $100 pursuant to GAR 156(f) after Acoustic Flash escaped on the way to the starting boxes prior to the running of this race.  The greyhound underwent an examination by the On-Track Veterinarian and passed fit to race.  The start of the race was delayed by two minutes.

Stewards issued a warning to the Parade Steward pursuant to GAR 156(f)(ii) for improper conduct towards Steward, Mr B Blood.  In assessing the matter, Stewards took into consideration Mr. White's remorse and his apology to Mr. Blood.  This matter was referred to the Club Manager, Ms J Faralla for further consideration and remediation
