Steward's Report
Kennel representative Ms Korie Heinrich was interviewed prior to the event as the Dailly kennel had seven of the eight greyhounds engaged. Stewards queried Ms Heinrich on her expectations of the greyhound's in the event, her comments were noted. Ms Heinrich was further questioned as to the betting fluctuations noted for Phelan Tubman. Ms Heinrich explained that in her opinion it was the kennel's better chance in the event, however the kennel, to her knowledge, had not contributed to the price firming.
A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Phelan Tubman, a post-race sample was subsequently taken.
As the correct starting procedure had not been followed the greyhounds were withdrawn from the boxes with the correct starting procedure being implemented on the second occasion.
Phelan Tubman and Bun Volcano were quick to begin. Proper Franky and Rattle And Bang were slow to begin.
Proper Franky (contacted the rail approaching the turn out of the back straight) underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right hind metatarsal and a right triangle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Motion Sensor - winner of the event.
