Steward's Report
Classy Kayla and Valencia Bella were quick to begin. Aussie Can Fly was slow to begin.
Steel Lady faltered approaching the home turn and lost ground, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the right hamstring and right back muscle. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Classy Kayla turned its head to the inside approaching the winning post, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist injury A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mrs Debbie Selleck regarding Classy Kayla’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Classy Kayla was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mrs Selleck pleaded guilty to the charge. Classy Kayla must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Ms Donna Sadler regarding the difficulty in boxing Steel Lady in this event. A warning was issued pursuant to GAR 106(2) and Stewards will continue to monitor the box manners of Steel Lady at future starts.
