Steward's Report
A pre–race sample was taken from Longissimus.
Kiwi Turtle turned its head inwards and collided with Lubbock Lad in the home straight and underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right foreleg shoulder muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Colin Baker regarding Kiwi Turtle's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Kiwi Turtle was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Colin Baker pleaded guilty to the charge. Kiwi Turtle must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Longissimus was severely checked on the first turn and underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.
Lubbock Lad underwent a post–race veterinary examination at the trainer’s request and was found to have a right wrist fracture. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
