Just Like Zuma (trainers request) underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr J Palma regarding the racing manners of Just Like Zuma throughout the event. After hearing submissions from Mr Palma, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections.

Gunai Princess and Aston Garreffa were quick to begin. Black Noise and Malibu Bale were slow to begin.

Black Noise (contacted rail and fell turning off the back straight), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right shoulder joint and left triangle muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Aston Garreffa (checked by Black Noise and fell), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hip injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Matty Boy (checked by Black Noise and fell), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have abrasions to both hind feet. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Sunny Love raced wide in the home straight. Selynya Blue raced wide throughout.

Trainer Mr S. Coates was issued with a warning pursuant to GAR 156(f)(ii) in that he negligently placed the incorrect race rug on Selynya Blue. 

Solar Tiger was quick to begin. Crimson Cannon and Mepunga Smokey were slow to begin.

Charlott's Blaze was quick to begin.

Edsel Bale was slow to begin.

Edsel Bale, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hind toe injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

A post–race sample was taken from Dundee Rebel – the winner of the event.

Tiggerlong Flyer was slow to begin.

Dundee Smokey (performed below market expectation) underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr  G. Scott-Smith regarding the performance. Mr Scott-Smith explained that the greyhound sustained an injury in Brisbane and this may be an underlying issue. Mr Scott-Smith added that he will monitor the greyhound closely and may give the greyhound a break. Update (24.08.2023): Mr Scott-Smith reported the greyhound had undergone subsequent blood testing, revealing that the greyhound showed signs of a possible virus.

Let's Win Coin (handler's request), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hind toe laceration. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Cheeky Wink underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a mild abrasion to the front right foot. No stand-down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative Michael Cullen regarding Cheeky Wink’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Cheeky Wink was charged with marring. Mr. Cullen pleaded not guilty to the charge. Cheeky Wink was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong only and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Orli Bale underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was deemed suitable to race

Lizzy Milici was quick to begin.

Yarrell Bale raced wide in the back straight.

A pre–race sample was taken from Skull.

Property Mogul was quick to begin. Bella La Vita was slow to begin.

The start of this event was delayed approximately two minutes due to operational matters. 

Slippery Shark was slow to begin.

Glory Boy (checked and fell on the turn off the back straight), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right triangle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Supplementary Report:

Coulter Bale – In accordance with GAR 41(5), presented for a re–vet as the greyhound was found to be injured at Bendigo on 11/8/2023. Coulter Bale was examined by the On–Track Veterinarian and found to be free from injury. At Bendigo on 11/8/2023 Coulter Bale was also reported to have an eye condition, connections have submitted an external veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 41(3) and as such the stand down period for Coulter Bale has been reduced to 10 days.
