Steward's Report
Shine On Lilly– Late scratching at 16:35 due to non–arrival (GAR 86 and LR 39). A 28 day stand down period was imposed. Mr Grant Masterton informed Stewards that he had a vehicle breakdown on–route to the track. Stewards advised Mr Masterton that evidence of the breakdown will need to be submitted, to the satisfaction of Stewards, within 72 hours of the occurrence that caused the non–arrival. The matter will be re–evaluated upon receipt of this evidence.
Hunter Fred and Fire Feather were quick to begin. Smooth Criminal and Lottie Rose were slow to begin.
Savannah Way raced ungenerously approaching the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr Robert Bean regarding the racing manners of Savannah Way. After hearing submissions from Mr Bean, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections regarding the greyhound’s racing manners.
In accordance with GAR 122, the Stewards requested Mr Robert Bean to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Savannah Way in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.
Detective Duke lost ground approaching the home turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg back muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
