Stewards issued a reprimand to handler Ian Bibby (Crymelon Pink) after he had placed the greyhound in an incorrect starting box. Crymelon Pink was then removed from the box and placed in its correct starting box.
Recko Bale, Movefasa Reg and Arcadia Trivett were slow to begin. Princess Mogambo and Crymelon Pink collided soon after the start, checking Crymelon Pink. Levi's Huracan and Broon Hilda collided approaching the first turn, checking Princess Mogambo. Recko Bale, Miss Miantra, Crymelon Pink, Levi's Huracan and Broon Hilda all collided on the first turn, checking Crymelon Pink, Levi's Huracan, Movefasa Reg and Princess Mogambo.
