Steward's Report
A pre–race sample was taken from Tasman Hope.
Idle Awile was quick to begin, Ridley Didge stumbled at box rise and was very slow to begin 2L.
Little Easy (fell turning off the back straight and contacted the outside fence), underwent a post–race veterinary examination no apparent injury was reported
Full Speed (fell turning off the back straight and contacted the outside fence), underwent a post–race veterinary examination no apparent injury was reported
Vaila Bale (marred Ridley Didge in the home straight), underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Darren Peterson regarding racing manners of Vaila Bale in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Vaila Bale was charged with marring. Mr. Peterson pleaded guilty to the charge. Vaila Bale was suspended for three months at all tracks and must perform two Satisfactory Trials in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post–race sample was taken from Idle Awhile the winner of the event.
Supplementary Report – 20 June 2023 - This event was subject to review after Stewards became aware (post race-meeting) of the racing manners of Moonlit Jewel and Don’t Tell Benji approaching the finishing line. The Stewards concluded that both greyhounds had raced ungenerously approaching the finishing line and (if identified on the day) would notionally have been subject to the standard race-day processes for such incidents. After hearing submissions from the relevant race-day officials and reviewing the incident in totality, the Stewards have today issued a warning to both Moonlit Jewel and Don’t Tell Benji for their racing manners over the concluding stages. The Chief Steward will review processes and procedures to ensure they are appropriate and correctly applied on race-days.
