Steward's Report
Baby Sugar Loud and Spirit Of Panama were quick to begin.
Short Talk visibly eased and turned its head to the outside at the 150m mark, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have soreness to the left shin. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms. Angela Galea regarding Short Talk’s racing manners at the 150m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Short Talk was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms Galea pled guilty to the charge, Short Talk was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Supplementary Report:
On Sunday, 7 May 2023 at the Ballarat GRC meeting, - GRIU Stewards - Ms. Lee Fahry and Mr. Jaden Smith concluded an Inquiry following an incident involving licensed Trainer - Mr. J Uglietta following the running of Race 2 at Healesville on 21 April, 2023. At today's Inquiry, Stewards charged Mr. J Uglietta pursuant to GAR 165(a) for engaging in conduct detrimental to the image of greyhound racing after he behaved in an aggressive verbal manner at the starting boxes following Event 2 and his continuance in the washbay area. Mr. J Uglietta pleaded not guilty to the charge. Stewards found Mr. Uglietta guilty as charged and fined him the sum of $500 ($250 wholly suspended for 12 months pending no further breaches under GAR 165(a). In assessing penalty, Stewards took into consideration evidence taken from a licensed participant and Statements from GRV Stewards - Ms. D. Barber and Mr.C. Curtis.
