Out of competition samples were taken from Alpine Butterfly, Ariarne Bale, Lady Lily Hook, Yachi Bale, Great Guy & Jarick Bale on 21 December 2022 pursuant to GAR 139.
Out of competition samples were taken from Dookie Devil and Extreme Jewel on 20 December 2022 pursuant to GAR 139.
An out of competition sample was taken from Untapped on 24 December 2022 pursuant to GAR 139.
This event was delayed by approximately 2 minutes to allow pre-race entertainment to cease.
Lady Lily Hook, Great Guy and Untapped were slow to begin.
Dookie Devil marred Yachi Bale in the home straight, underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr Glenn Dainton regarding Dookie Devil’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123 Dookie Devil was charged with marring. Mr. Dainton pled not guilty to the charge, Dookie Devil was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sale and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Post-race blood and urine samples were taken from Jarick Bale - the winner of the event.
Post–race samples were taken from Dookie Devil (2nd) and Yachi Bale (3rd).
