Magic Ride was slow to begin.
Norma Jae visably eased and turned it's head outwards on the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a neck injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr David Warburton regarding Norma Jae's racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Norma Jae was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr David Warburton pled guilty to the charge, Norma Jae was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
