A pre–race sample was taken from Thybulle Bale.

Stewards held the All Clear after a Magpie on the track was observed to distract the leader Thybulle Bale rounding the home turn/into the home straight. After reviewing all available video footage and acting on their observations, the Stewards were comfortably satisfied that the incident had an effect on the outcome of the race. As such, and pursuant to GAR 110 (5) (c), the event was declared a ‘No Race’. All betting is to be refunded. The weights recorded for the greyhounds are void and do not count for the purposes of the weight rule at the greyhounds’ next start. The event was then abandoned in accordance with GAR 111, with prizemoney to be split evenly between the greyhounds which competed.

As this race was a leg of a series, being the third heat of a four-heat series, the Stewards turned their minds to the provisions of GAR 111 (2), whereby a four-heat series requires two greyhounds (being 1st and 2nd) to qualify naturally for the Final. Of note, due to the number of heats (4), the Stewards need not have to differentiate whether any greyhound would have finished either first or second, only that they would have finished either first or second, as two spots are required from each heat in a four-heat series.

As such, the Stewards were comfortably satisfied that both Thybulle Bale and Reimagine would have qualified to participate further in the series had the race not been abandoned. Pursuant to GAR 111 (2) (a), the Stewards make the order that Thybulle Bale and Reimagine are qualified for the final and exempt from any ballot. 

A ballot is then generally required to determine the order of the no-race, and this will be conducted at the GRV Head Office on Monday 5 December 2022. Of note though, as the two quickest thirds qualify for the reserve positions of (9) and (10) in this series (being in order of quickest time) and that GAR 111 (2) (c) determines that the next greyhound drawn from this race (by ballot) would be deemed to be the slowest time of the required third placings, the first greyhound drawn by ballot will take position 12 in the series, which is superfluous to the requirements of the Final field of 10.

There was no head-on vision available in the home straight for this event.

A random ballot was conducted by Stewards on 5 December 2022, with the final order being as follows:

1. Thybulle Bale - Exempt from ballot.

2. Reimagine - Exempt from ballot.

3. Total Babe.

4. Oldrick Bale.

5. Cruising Through.

6. Lacie Rose.

7. Charlize.
