Before the running of Race 1, the Stewards were made aware of an (alleged) altercation involving registered participants in the vicinity of the trainer’s car park. Pursuant to GAR 169, the Stewards opened an inquiry and gathered preliminary evidence as to the occurrences. As a result of the initial evidence gathered, Mr. Vince Mileto was expelled and excluded (forthwith) from the venue, pursuant to GAR 19 (3) (o). The inquiry into this matter is ongoing but was adjourned to a date and time to be fixed.

Sensei Pandaken and Spring Bart were quick to begin. All Eagle was slow to begin.

Becky Lyn, was severely checked on the first turn and fell as a result, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have multiple fractures in both Left and Right radius forelegs and head trauma. Becky Lyn was humanely euthanised.

Brightly Staring and Mac Cruz were slow to begin.

A pre-race sample was taken from Lucky One.

Meehan Minnie was quick to begin.

Spring Martini, visably eased and pulled up entering the home straight underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right wrist and thigh injury and left hamstring injury . A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative Mr. Shaun Coulson regarding Spring Martini’s racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Spring Martini was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Coulson pled guilty to the charge, Spring Martini was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted. Update 11/01/2023, following an inquiry held at the Meadows, Stewards corrected the initial penalty of failing to pursue - by reason of injury, to the correct penalty of failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (first offence - 28 days at Shepparton + 1 satisfactory trial), due to the greyhound having already been suspended under GAR 125 (first offence only), in South Australia on 27/5/2022. 

Meehan Minnie, was severly checked on the first turn and fell as a result underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist injury and left metacarpal fracture. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Following the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track on the first turn and deemed it satisfactory for racing.

There were no reportable incidents in the event. 

Kraken Stinger, was checked on the first turn then visably eased and pulled up in the home straight underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have right and left wrist injuries. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. Kevin Eyles regarding Kraken Stringer’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Kraken Stringer was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Eyles pled guilty to the charge, Kraken stringer was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Pursuant to GAR 75(6) Parade Steward, Miss Stacey Evans did not act in any official capacity that may have in any way, affected the outcome of this event.

Got A Trump, was severly checked on the first turn underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have back muscle injury. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Jodie's Boy, underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.

Wow How's That collided with Bern's Ability in the home straight underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right triangle and a spike wound. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Trainer,  Mr. Gregory Berry regarding the racing manners of Wow How's That in the home straight. After hearing submissions from Mr. Berry, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.

Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry regarding an (alleged) incident before the running of race 6, between Mr. Korey Coleman, Mr. Ricky Coleman and Mr. Thomas Wark.
