Steward's Report
Be Little and Be Rugged were slow to begin. Pouncing Penny stumbled at box ride.
Balance Due turned its head soon after the start, underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Trainer, Mr Kenneth Howat declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted. Stewards spoke to Mr Howat regarding the greyhound’s racing manners soon after the start Acting under the provisions of GAR 124 Balance Due was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Howat pled guilty to the charge, Balance Due was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trials in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Mr Gary McMillan regarding the racing manners of Be Little at the 100m mark. After hearing submissions from Mr McMillan, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections regarding the greyhound’s racing manners.
