Zoom Blazer was slow to begin.
A post–race sample was taken from Zap – the winner of the event.
Bear Force Two underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right monkey injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Payne regarding Bear Force Two's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Bear Force Two was charged with marring. Mr. S. Payne pled guilty to the charge, Bear Force Two was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
