A pre-race sample was taken from Gallant Toby.
Lightning Blue was quick to begin.
Swift Current, Posterior Chain and Mr. Bob collided approaching the first turn checking Swift Current and Posterior Chain. My Name's Barry, Gallant Taby and Swift Current collided on the first turn severely checking My Name's Barry and Gallant Toby causing Gallant Toby to fall as a result. Swift Current checked off Run Baba Run on the home turn.
Gallant Toby underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right hind limb and a neck injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
