Potent and Ice Skates collided soon after the start, checking Potent. Potent clipped the heels of Ice Skates approaching the first turn. Flo Lava raced wide on the home turn. Ice Skates lost ground over the concluding stages.

Ice Skates underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right foreleg shoulder muscle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
