Triskelion was slow to begin.
Rusty Yaala checked off Now And Then approaching the first turn. Triskelion brushed the running rail approaching the first turn. Crusty Chris checked off Rusty Yaala approaching the first turn checking Crusty Chris and Devil Den. Now And Then and Shock Value collided on the home turn. Rusty Yaala visibly eased in the home straight.
Crusty Chris underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the left hamstring and an abrasion to the left hind metatarsal. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Rusty Yaala underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 12 - no apparent injury could be detected.
Stewards spoke to Ms E. Palma, the trainer of Rusty Yaala regarding the greyhound‘s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Rusty Yaala was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms Palma pleaded not guilty to the charge, Rusty Yaala was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
