Cut Snake and Gene Man were slow to begin. Compsognathus and Tuiaki Dora collided approaching the first turn. Quando Quando, Cut Snake, Compsognathus and Tuiaki Dora collided on the first turn checking Compognathus and Quando Quando. Compsognathus raced wide entering the home straight and in the home straight. Kiewa Cowboy raced wide in the home straight.
Compsognathus underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hip injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
