Steward's Report
The start of this race was re-scheduled to start at 5.12PM as requested by Sky Channel.
Dundee Spectre was slow to begin. Spolly's Tune checked off Breakaway on the first turn. Dundee Spectre and Quicker Than Joe collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds and causing Dundee Spectre to contact the running rail. Breakaway checked off Dundee Glitter entering the home straight.
Dundee Spectre underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was reported.
Spolly's Tune underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 5. Spolly's Tune was found to have a right monkey muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Ms. K. Prowse, the handler of Breakaway regarding a significant market move on fixed odds betting for the greyhound ($23 to $7.50). Ms. Prowse stated that the kennel did support Breakaway in today’s event based on its work since its first race start. Ms Prowse added that the greyhound had received a number of checks at its last start and a forward showing was expected in todays race. Stewards noted Ms. Prowse’s comments.
A post-race sample was taken from Breakaway, 2nd placegetter.
