Steward's Report
Super Big and Superior Kiki were slow to begin.
Lady Elegance, Tanami Express and Ovens Angler collided soon after the start. Super Big and Superior Kiki collided approaching the 250m mark. Lady Elegance and Tanami Express collided approaching the 250m mark checking Lady Elegance. Lady Elegance and Ovens Angler collided at the 250m mark checking both greyhounds. Louranda and Super Big collided at the 150m mark. Tanami Express eased at the 50m mark and again approaching the winning post. Ovens Angler marred Tanami Express approaching the winning post. Super Big raced erratically approaching the winning post. Louranda and Super Big collided approaching the winning post checking both greyhounds.
Super Big underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr J. Boreland, the trainer of Super Big, and taking into account the greyhounds first start and it's reaction to the racing incident that occurred in front of it, stewards issued a warning regarding the greyhounds racing manners over the concluding stages of the event.
Tanami Express underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following Race 8. Tanami Express was found to have injuries to the right quadriceps, the right pencil muscle and the left monkey muscle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr B. Smith, the trainer of Tanami Express regarding the greyhounds racing manners at the 50m mark and again approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Tanami Express was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Smith pleaded guilty to the charge, Tanami Express must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Ovens Angler underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the right pencil muscle and the left hip. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr G. Cinnamond, the handler of Ovens Angler regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Ovens Angler was charged with marring. Mr Cinnamond pleaded not guilty to the charge, Ovens Angler is suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
