Speed Star was quick to begin.
Sparkle Motion and Pumpernickel collided soon after the start. Three Toots, Sparkle Motion and Pumpernickel collided approaching the first turn. Go Seek Fernando checked off Three Toots approaching the first turn. Three Toots checked off Sparkle Motion on the first turn. Go Seek Fernando and Three Toots collided approaching the home turn checking Three Toots. Sparkle Motion and Pumpernickel collided on the home turn and again approaching the winning post.
Pumpernickel underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right wrist injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
